When she rests her head on your chest
When you watch her eyelids flutter
When you see the ones you love at their best
When gentle words you utter

Screaming and fighting and singing in the rain
Feeling yourself go numb to the pain
The warm, fuzzy feelings that eats you up
The innocent biting of a feisty pup

When she slams the door with tears streaming down her face
On the floor shattered pieces of your favorite vase
Throwing your paperwork off of the desk
Not thinking straight as to what might come next

Sobbing and empty and hollow inside
Black and white photos of ghost smiles wide
A favorite book with its pages torn out
An old iron kettle with a broken spout

The water from the tap flowing into the tub
Trees just chopped down leaving only a stub
